Bawat Barangay Makikinabang Program implemented in 48 La Union barangays

LA UNION — The Bawat Barangay Makikinabang Program was officially implemented in forty-eight (48) barangays across the municipalities of Aringay, Bagulin and Pugo through the leadership of Liga Vice President for Luzon and La Union Liga Chapter President Ramon Ortega Jr..
“Napakaswerte po natin dahil tayo po ang mga unang nakatanggap ng ating public service projects worth P100,000 pesos and educational assistance worth P100,000 pesos,” said Pres. Ortega Jr. during the program.
Under the program, each barangay implemented P200,000 worth of assistance and projects. Of the total amount, P100,000 was allocated for educational assistance benefiting five (5) scholars per barangay who each received P20,000 in financial support for their studies, while another P100,000 was allotted for various public service projects.
Of the 48 beneficiary barangays, forty (40) utilized their allocation for the purchase of one hundred (100) monoblock chairs and two tents each to support barangay activities and community events. Meanwhile, eight (8) barangays implemented projects involving computer sets, projectors and printers to help improve administrative operations and public service delivery in their communities, which were received by their respective Liga Municipal Chapter Presidents.
Kap. Helen Frigillana of Barangay San Benito, Aringay, La Union shared that the projects directly address the immediate needs of their constituents. “Ito yung mga first na kinakailangan ng mga constituents ng aming barangay kasi at least napapahiram namin lalo na sa mga aktibidades ng aming barangay,” she said, referring to the monoblock chairs and tents received by their barangay.
Bagulin Liga Chapter Pres. Ruben Camarao also expressed gratitude for the program and the support extended to barangays. “Apo Presidente, alam namin na hindi mo kami pinapabayaan.” he said.
The activity was attended by Liga ng mga Barangay sa Pilipinas Deputy Executive Director Atty. Benson Aquino, representing Liga National President Jessica Dy, along with Governor Mario Eduardo Ortega, Aringay Mayor Benjamin Sibuma, Liga Auditor and Dagupan City Liga President Marcelino Fernandez, and Liga Region 1 President and Ilocos Sur Liga President Constante Benzon.

The Bawat Barangay Makikinabang Program forms part of the continuing efforts of the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to strengthen grassroots governance and support community development initiatives across the country.
