Liga ng mga Barangay Condemns Violence Against Barangay Officials, Calls for Justice

The Liga ng mga Barangay sa Pilipinas strongly condemns the recent spate of violence targeting barangay officials, including National Liga Vice President for Legislative Affairs, President Ferdinand Zaballa, who narrowly survived an attack after being strangled with a wire during a barangay event.
While Zaballa survived, the Liga underscores that many barangay officials have not been as fortunate. These incidents highlight the grave risks faced by grassroots leaders who dedicate their lives to serving their communities.
The Liga believes that such acts are not only direct assaults on local officials but also attacks on democracy, public trust, and the very principles of public service. It has renewed its call for authorities to conduct swift, fair, and thorough investigations to ensure accountability and deliver justice for all barangay officials who have fallen victim to violence.
Under the leadership of National President Maria Katrina Jessica G. Dy, the Liga ng mga Barangay sa Pilipinas remains steadfast in its mission to uphold the rights, dignity, and safety of barangay officials nationwide. The organization continues to call for stronger measures to safeguard community leaders as they fulfill their mandate of service.
