The Liga ng mga Barangay sa Pilipinas held a coordination meeting with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to discuss priority measures aimed at strengthening barangay governance.

The meeting was attended by Dennis D. Villasenor, Director of the National Barangay Operations Office (NBOO); Elenita S. Mahinay, Chief of the Political Development Section; LGOO VII Cheryl Navarro, and LGOO V Edgar Bernardino.

Discussions focused on the proposed Magna Carta for Barangay Officials, possible amendments to the Local Government Code (LGC), and barangay-level projects scheduled for implementation this year. The agenda centered on improving support mechanisms for barangay officials, clarifying roles and responsibilities, and ensuring that policies remain aligned with the current needs and challenges of local governance.

The Liga expressed its appreciation for the continued guidance and support of the DILG through the NBOO, noting the importance of sustained coordination in advancing governance reforms at the barangay level.

Both parties expressed optimism for continued collaboration in 2026, reinforcing their shared commitment to stronger, more responsive, and effective barangay governance.
