Liga ng mga Barangay sa Pilipinas Expresses Gratitude to President Marcos for Supporting RA 12232

The Liga ng mga Barangay sa Pilipinas, led by National President Jessica Gallegos Dy, paid a courtesy call to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. to convey the organization’s deep appreciation for his continued support to barangay officials across the country.
During the meeting, the President acknowledged the crucial role of barangays as the foundation of local governance and the first line of public service delivery. He underscored the importance of empowering barangay officials and directed the Liga to work closely with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in strengthening programs that will build their capacity and leadership in their respective communities.
As a gesture of appreciation, the Liga presented a resolution to President Marcos for his vital support in the passage of Republic Act No. 12232, also known as the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Officials Term Adjustment Law. The law ensures the continuity of local initiatives by providing a more stable term of office for barangay and SK officials, ultimately benefiting the communities they serve.
President Jessica Dy expressed the Liga’s unwavering commitment to work hand in hand with the national government in bringing meaningful development to communities and further empowering barangay leaders to serve effectively.
The Liga likewise extended its heartfelt appreciation to former DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos for accompanying the Liga during the courtesy call and for his steadfast guidance and support to the organization’s ongoing initiatives.
Through this engagement, the Liga reaffirmed its mission to bring barangays closer to the national government—a step forward in strengthening local governance and ensuring that every Filipino continues to receive genuine, efficient, and compassionate public service.
